Past Youth Activities

We offer many youth programs with our Equine Facilitated Character Education program for public schools for the past four years being our primary youth focus.  If you're interested in learning more about this program please contact us but in the meanwhile here are a few highlights from other youth events we've joined.

Black Stallion Literacy Program 2008

We had a good fun this year at BSLP with the horses and kids enjoying each other.  Special thanks to Dr. Lucas for joining us with cadaver parts to give an extra element of fun to the day for these young people learning about horses and encouraging them to read all at the same time!

So Long to Summerfest 2007 - Gilbert, AZ

This amazing event was a blast for all of us.  Sundance and Solstice got into the festivities with their finger paint swimsuits, hats, and glasses...these horses were troopers with over 6,000 people coming to meet them and the night ending with fireworks...we couldn't have been more proud of our most seasoned event horses giving lots of kids their first chance to meet a real horse!

City of Peoria Easter Egg Hunt 2007 - Peoria, AZ

The world's biggest bunny rabbits came out for this event....Solstice and Sundance were again good sports about getting into the festivities.  There were 8,000 people in attendance and lots of kids had fun decorating horseshoes.  Next year we'll get a pro making our horsie bunny suits!

December 2004 Youth Volunteer Day

We had a great time during our Youth Volunteer Day this past December.  The day's activities included grooming the rescues and decorating horse shoes that we brought to the John C. Lincoln Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for the kids who had to be in the hospital for the holidays.  We had some great horse shoes that displayed the creative talents of our volunteers!  The day was topped off by some face painting provided by Nichole Gallagher, and pony rides for all!  Check out the photos of the day.

May 2004 Youth Volunteer Day

A day at the barn allowed the kids to groom the horses and yes, they even cleaned stalls and water buckets!  That evening one of the kids came along with us while we helped to transport a 19-hand draft horse to the emergency clinic for colic.  Our next Youth Volunteer Day is December 19th.  >> sign-up

Cheers getting a brushing.  You have to be tall to brush his back!
