Valiant's Memorial

March 24, 2007

For those of you who met Valiant you will remember that this was our most beloved horse and best friend in the barn.  He came to AERO in a challenging physical state and yet he taught us that even a horse with no coffin bones is a busy horse indeed!  Valiant taught everyone who met him so much and was the most amazing soul to grace us with his presence.  This page is for all of us to share in the amazing experiences that Valiant brought to us and remember our dear friend with the extraordinary love that he poured out to all of us.  He will be sorely missed in his physical presence but has promised to tease us in spirit around the barn!  His parting words to us are: "The body is the vehicle that gives you what you need, the soul is the vehicle that gives you what you want and allows you to soar."

The first day we met Valiant (then Howdy) we were amazed at his strength.

August 2005 is when we first met Valiant who would soon become the biggest force in our barn.

His initial xrays would give us heart failure...

How was this horse able to stand?

Even then he had a crew of support his first day with AERO

Special thanks to SW Equine for his initial evaluation.

After a long first day he meets the others in the barn with his new feet!

Very happy to have shavings after so long without a soft place to lay.

Learning how to walk with his new feet didn't take long

He became unstoppable in his ventures around the barn - he spent almost all his days free to roam at AERO.

He made sure everyone knew he was in charge...biting Lizzy and Zeph on the nose within the first couple weeks.

Known for his ability to make the barn breezeway look like the Tasmanian devil went through....

He always explored every inch of the place.

He stood quite nicely with his feet and his sole depth grew 10mm in the first two months.

We never knew where we'd find him

He loved to hang out with the fairies under the trees.

We fed him wherever he ended up at feeding time.

Back to the hospital for his teeth floating

and more shoes thanks to Dr. Lucas and Cody!

He had an active fan club in our barn

He even brought out the horse in Emily...

He loved his prayer flags and always eagerly looked for breakfast.

And he loved his favorite corner in the arena....

One of his evening walks back to his stall to indulge Soleil...she didn't like him in the arena at night

He loved having Chico hang out with him in the arena....Chico was the only horse he was ever turned out with

He loved hanging out in the evening sun by the portal

His visit to AZ Enlightenment Center was a special highlight for him! They gave him so much love!

Always peaceful wherever he was...

Valiant on the move again two months after being at AERO

Valiant knew how to draw people together to work as a team for him. Healer's circle November 4

Enjoying some time in the grasses

Walking back into the barn in June 2006

Making his impression on new Santa Fe friends for a healer's circle there

His magazine photo taken by professional photographer Brett Patterson

Wandering around on the 22 acres in New Mexico...loved having all that grazing to do.

He hung out in the mornings waiting for us to bring him grain...right outside the front door!
