Sugar's Recovery Diary

BE ADVISED THAT PICTURES OF THE SURGERY ARE GRAPHIC - Please use PARENTAL DISCRETION before children view them.

Sugar lined up to the table and ready to lower.

Sugar being hooked up to the ventilator for anesthesia while her legs are being positioned for comfort.

Everyone has to hustle to prepare Sugar for surgery.  This process can take up to an hour before the actual surgery can begin.

Dr. Cary investigates the surgical area.

Sugar waits comfortably as everyone makes final preparations.

The Operating Room has a camera that allows people to watch the surgery in the waiting area.

Dr. Cary is now in surgical attire and preparing the table that will have her instruments.

Everything is ready to begin.

Sugar's anesthesia is carefully monitored and logged all during the procedure.

Dr. Cary is carefully suturing up the eye at the end of a long procedure.

Sugar is carefully moved to the recovery room by two 1-Ton cranes.  This room is fully padded so she doesn't injure herself as she wakes up.

Staff has to quickly prepare Sugar for waking up and remove themselves from the room.

Sugar is now learning how to see with one eye for the first time.  She picks up on it right away by moving her head to the side.

Sugar is a little unsteady still but doing well.  In another hour the anesthesia will be out of her system so she can focus easier.

Although this is not the prettiest picture to look at ...if you look at the half of the object to the right that is back of Sugar's eye and the portion on the left that is almost equal size is the cancer that was removed. The mass was so large that is made created alot of pain for Sugar which will now be relieved.
