Needs a Good Home...

Owners have called AERO with these horses that need loving homes.  Often either financial or life circumstances mean that owners are forced to find another situation for their animals.  All horses listed below are owned by private individuals or other rescues and conditions of ownership transfer, including price where applicable, are up to current owners or that rescue's policy (rescue adoption horses are specifically identified as such).  If you are interested in one of these horses please contact us with a note in the comments section as to which horse you would like to know more about. All horses listed here are free to a good home UNLESS they are listed as being with a rescue (then there is an adoption fee). CLICK ON PICTURES BELOW TO ENLARGE THEM.

Rescue Me!

Rescue Me! (our name for him) is a nice looking grey TB that looks to be sound, gentle and desperately wants out of his current situation.  He was spotted when we were pulling some other animals out of a lot and he begged us to help him find a new home.  The owner is selling him and is under the impression that Rescue Me is mean but we can assure you this horse doesn't have a mean bone in his body.  We believe the owner would sell him for $500.

Dream

Chocolate and Carol

Chocolate, Carol and Dream are three lovely QH horses out of excellent QH lines.  They run between 14.5 -15H and have been ridden on the trail all their lives.  They are solid horses that are sound, healthy, and loving.  Owner has health restrictions that are forcing a new situation.  These would be excellent starter horses or kids horses or for anyone looking to do every day trail riding.  All three are easy keepers.

Pilot

Pilot is a 16.1H Lineback Dunn that has been a police horse and used in therapeutic riding.  He has ringbone on one of his front feet and is fine to be ridden on soft trails but cannot do rocky trails or hard rides any more.  He has excellent manners in every way and is perfect for the walk only rider or a beginner that just wants to stroll about the neighborhood with friends.  He takes care of his rider.

Soldado - click to enlarge

Soldado is a 15yo Paso Fino gelding that has a neurologic issue with his hind end that does not make him safe to ride.  He needs a loving home to be a companion or a horse for kids to be led around on for short walks.  He is healthy and an easy keeper.

Frisco

Frisco is a 5yo bay mustang gelding who has suffered a great deal in his young life. He is broke to ride, but not sound due to a ruptured ligament and shows signs of heavy physical abuse.  He moves around just fine with his injury. He’s gentle– has never kicked or bitten, but does not seek out attention from people.  He’s UTD on worming and shots and good with other horses in the herd.

Dillon

Dillon is a 3yo reddish bay mustang, who is very sweet natured, gelded and UTD on shots and worming.  He suffered an injury to his eye when young and is blind in one eye.  While Dillon is technically a “special needs” horse due to his eyesight, he has always been treated well and does not spook easily, even when approached on his blind side.  He is very mild mannered and has the potential to become a great riding horse with a person that he trusts to be his other “eye.”  He has been haltered but have never worked with on leading, however, he does walk into a horse trailer on his own and has no fear of it.

sundance

Sundance is a mature 12yo Palomino (with Doc Bar in his pedigree) who has an old stifle injury.  He is broke to ride (dead broke) and completely safe for anybody to ride.   He is on a joint supplement but can be ridden.  He doesn’t like to go above a walk, but I have had him trotting on occasion.  At one point in his career, he was used at a riding stable as a lesson horse.    He is sweet, mild mannered, safe with everyone and everything, good with all my horses.  He has chronic problems with loose stools (currently on probiotics), but is otherwise an easy keeper.

wisp

Wisp is a 3yo dark bay Arab/mustang cross, sound and gorgeous.  He has a mane and tail to die for – long and flowing – absolutely stunning!  When Wisp was born, he was never handled and so became a free spirit.  He is best friends with Cimarron and has picked up his bad habit of running away from people.  When penned, he calms down somewhat and he has no bad habits (no biting, no kicking, even when frightened)..  He will need someone with a lot of time and patience to work with him, although he should come around with the right person.  He has never been mistreated and has been around people all his life and will, upon occasion, come up to you on his own (in his own time and on his own terms).

Cimmaron

Cimarron is an approx 8yo bay Quarter horse cross gelding (possibly with Paso Fino) – has a big build in a short stature – very beautiful.  He’s sound and is broke to ride, but needs someone with the patience and kindness to work with him as he spooks at everything.  He is so skittish and hard to catch.  He’s UTD on shots* and current on worming.  His only issue (other than being scared of people) is that he has a hoof crack.  It has never gone all the way up to the top and has never affected him – he’s perfectly sound but it hasn't been fixed because he is difficult to catch.

Chester - (no picture) A 29yo Saddlebred who is flashy, a good mover, sweet and full of personality.  He is perfectly ridable with plenty of years left in him - he doesn't have arthritis, has been checked and is sound, and is quite impressive!  Would be a great kids first horse for showing.

Dream

Dream - Dream is a 15H 15yo Chestnut and was used as a broodmare and ridden in the past.  She has a club foot which means she'll always need at least two shoes but is an easy keeper otherwise.  She is lower in the herd and needs another horse around.  Only gentle handlers and experienced horse people should consider Dream since she tends to get nervous and is easily intimidated.  Her nature is extremely sweet.

Sunday - A retired QH gelding whose lameness does not allow him to be ridden any more but he would make an excellent companion to another horse.  He was in the 1990's video with the Judd's (Chestnut being ridden at the beginning) and deserves to live out his last years in peace.  He is happy and kind to his herd mates.  Here is our TV star http://youtube.com/watch?v=z35v_4qpu3I

Dakota - HOME FOUND! A 16H 7yo Reg Thoroughbred out of Sunnyfeet and Binga, Black with blaze.  Healthy and sassy, needs experienced handler and rider, good ground manners, very willing and sweet, loves her carrots!  Rides western and trained for racing but not a race horse at heart.  Trailers well.

Houdini  HOME FOUND! is a 6yo red varnish Appaloosa mustang at approx 15 hands.  She is friendly and has been haltered, blanketed and had a saddle put on her, but has never been ridden.  She is in foal and due sometime this Spring.  She is sound, UTD on shots and wormed.  She’s very stocky and in excellent health.  She has been worked with minimally and would need someone with time and patience to work with her.  She doesn’t have any trust issues (she’s not spooky or mean), has always been treated kindly and would make someone a splashy, eye-catching mount.

Sammy ADOPTED!- A 14H approx 13yo QH with an excellent mind, very easy going demeanor, and excellent look to him.  He would make a great kids show horse and could do anything.  He is sound at all gaits and was taken in by the rescue because he needed cancer surgery.  He has fully recovered, has excellent ground manners, can be studdish around other horses at times, but is very willing, calm, and accepts new situations in stride.  He has not been ridden in awhile so he may need a month or two of refresher.  Sammy is an easy keeper.

Blaise HOME FOUND!is a young one – about 1 ˝ - 2 years old; bay with a white blaze (he’s half Appaloosa).  He’s frisky and friendly, UTD on worming and shots. I have never haltered or blanketed him but he’s young and willing and would make a good riding horse.  He’s quite stocky and well-built, completely sound.  He’s waiting for the right person to take him home and train him; he has no bad habits to unlearn.

Champ

Champ - Home Pending - Champ is a 7yo Mustang who is sweet and has wonderful ground manners.  He needs to be started under saddle but is easy to handle and willing.  Champ is healthy and sound.

MASH BRSB - HOME FOUND! A 14.3H 7yo Registered Chestnut Arab Gelding that is sound and has great feet. Trailers, camped at rides, great ground manners, no vices, does not bite, kick or crowd.  High energy horse that will need an experienced hand to finish his training.  He has not been under saddle but has had a rider on his back with a sidepull and did not rear or buck.  In a herd he tends to be more dominant but moves over the who is in charge.  Up to date on all regular care.

Jerry - HOME FOUND! Jerry is a 16H TB/Belgian cross that is ridable but needs an experienced rider/handler as he can be jumpy at times.  He used to do jumping but has retired and now needs a different career.

Flower - HOME Pending!9yo 14.3H White with Tan Appaloosa that was purchased at auction when bid on by kill buyer.  She had a foal at her side at that time, was pregnant with another foal and had severe abscessing in her feet.  She was very scared of people and learned to fight to defend herself.  Many of her aggression issues have been overcome and she only tries to bite now if she is intimidated.  She foaled again in May of 2006.  She had not been evaluated for riding abilities.  She is a beautiful and kind horse that has excellent trail potential.  This is a TAILS rescue horse.
